Developing the Incheon Airport has focused on aviation transportation as its primary growth driver. Phase 4 changed

airport economic its focus to developing a large-scale airport economic zone. It is important to create a virtuous
growth cycle for the airport and related industries nearby. This is why Incheon Airport has created a
zone for a virtuous cultural industry area that combines aviation and tourism to secure future growth potential.

growth cycle With numerous aircraft arrivals and departures, Incheon Airport is establishing an advanced MRO
(Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) Complex in its vicinity. Starting in March 2022, the first phase
of infrastructure construction covered around 620,000m . In April 2024, further work commenced
                                                                                       2
to establish the advanced MRO complex, which aims to attract global firms, such as a joint venture
with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). By 2026, the MRO complex will offer world-class, one-stop
aircraft maintenance services, positioning Incheon Airport as a key hub for the aviation industry.
An advanced air logistics complex is also in progress, supporting Incheon Airport’s standing

as one of the top airports worldwide in terms of cargo volume. With passenger capacity soon
exceeding 100 million, belly cargo—the freight carried in passenger aircraft—will also increase.
In anticipation of this growth, Incheon Airport is expanding its logistics complex and cargo
terminal. Global logistics leaders, including FedEx, are setting up operations within this expanded

logistics zone. To address the current space shortage, Incheon Airport is making use of available
airport land and actively seeking additional space for new logistics facilities.
Incheon Airport is also fostering an ecosystem of airport-related industries by creating a multi-
purpose cultural space with shopping, business, and entertainment facilities. Inspire Resort has

opened, featuring Korea’s first multi-purpose performance arena with 15,000 seats, designed to
host K-pop concerts and other large events. The resort also includes a dome-shaped indoor water
park for year-round use, an outdoor family park, the largest banquet and convention hall in the
Seoul Metro Area, and a premium shopping mall. The experiential theme park, Smart Racing

Park, is set to open in 2026, while the art storage facility, aimed at establishing Incheon Airport as
an art hub, will open in 2027.
