Enhancing cargo handling capacity:
          construction of the cargo apron
As part of the Phase 4 construction project, 13 cargo stands were built alongside
the northern remote apron. The construction process was challenging. To ensure
the continued use of the cargo terminal during construction, taxiways had to
be closed and worked on in phases. Despite these difficulties, IIAC was able to

secure the apron facilities on time by expediting the permit process by two months
          early in the construction phase.
The new cargo apron also includes refueling facilities. Notably, the MARS stands
in the Phase 4 cargo apron were designed to allow 2 Code C aircraft to park and

refuel directly from the fuel port, greatly improving operational efficiency. In
the face of rapidly increasing cargo volumes, the new cargo aprons have made a
significant contribution to enhancing Incheon Airport’s cargo handling capacity.
