Opening a new air route: inauguration of Runway 4
The construction of Runway 4, which began in June 2017, was completed after approximately 4 years, and operations
commenced at 1 a.m. on June 17, 2021. Amid the surge in aviation demand following the COVID-19 pandemic, Runway 4
has significantly contributed to the smooth operation of Incheon Airport. Moreover, with the addition of this new runway,
IIAC was able to accelerate improvement projects, including the repaving and upgrades of Runways 1 to 3.
