Phase 4 elevating facilities focused on enhancing passenger convenience. In
the southern and eastern arrivals halls, two 125-meter, long-distance moving
walkways were installed at each hall, the longest moving airport walkways in
Korea. The observation elevators were designed with 5 sides made of glass to
emphasize the design elements, providing a stunning view of the traditional
garden and modern art garden of the Garden Wing Tip, maximizing the scenic
effect. The capacity of the elevators was also increased to improve movement
convenience, and a smart door system was introduced to integrate the overall
Phase 4 construction project concept of "smart" and "art."
Perfecting control:
establishing auto control system of mechanical facilities
In line with Terminal 2’s expansion, an automatic control system for air handling
units, fans, Fan Coil Units (FCUs), Electric Heat Pumps (EHPs), pumps, and
refrigerators was also established. The primary design objective was to integrate
seamlessly with the existing automatic control system to create a stable system
capable of uninterrupted 24/7 operations. Additionally, the system was designed
with ease of airport facility operation and maintenance in mind, ensuring smooth
integration with Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), diverse related systems,
and mechanical equipment interfaces.
To enhance operational efficiency, the servers for the Phases 3 and 4 construction
projects were separated, and an integrated operating system was introduced for
easier operation and monitoring. A DID LED wall monitor was installed in the
control room of Terminal 2’s Technical Operations Center (TOC), allowing for
comprehensive monitoring of the entire system at a glance.
Under this direction, the following were installed: 1 automatic control system for
the expanded Terminal 2 mechanical facilities, 1 central monitoring system, 134
direct digital controllers, 241 inverters, 481 combined valves, 638 Variable Air
Volume (VAV) units, 633 thermostats, and 210 remote flow meters.
