Connecting spaces:
installation of passenger boarding bridges
To ensure passengers’ convenient boarding, mobile and
connecting boarding bridges were installed. First, IIAC
reviewed problems and areas of improvement identified during
operations of boarding bridges from Phase 1 to 3 and reflected
them into the design.
The operating method of the boarding bridges, the apron
drive type, used in Phases 1 to 3, was chosen for forward and
reverse movement, as it is easy to drive. For the ascent and
descent movement, a hydraulic type was selected, which is
consistent with the concept used for Terminal 1, Concourse
A, and Terminal 2. The exterior was designed to harmonize
with the first 3 Phases, featuring glass walls that allow natural
light, and the connecting bridges were also designed with the
same approach. Starting in April 2022, 57 mobile boarding boarding bridges to be connected remotely from the control
bridges and 43 connecting boarding bridges were installed in room by viewing a screen, eliminating the need for on-site

integrated with the Phase 3 central control system, was newly
established.
