Phase 3 in 9 years

Before Phase 3 opening, IIAC convened a Terminal 2 operation preparation
council at the end of 2015 and confirmed the master plan for operations in June
2016. It also created an internal/external collaboration system for successful

operations. More time and effort were required to prepare for Phase 3 operations
as many systems and facilities were added. The comprehensive commissioning
started in March 2017 in earnest, and most parts were completed in August
2017. Incheon Airport ran the trial system without stopping operations to prove a

smooth transition and prepare for emergencies. The Phase 3 grand opening was
held on January 18, 2018, before the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games.
Phase 3 was completed after 9 years, involving 93,000 people and a budget of
KRW 4.93 trillion, transforming Incheon Airport into a luxury airport with cutting

edge technology. In October 2017, Incheon Airport was ranked first for a twelfth
consecutive year at the Airport Service Quality Awards, proving its status as the
best airport in the world.
