Meanwhile, the cargo terminal was a private investment facility aimed at facilitating the smooth
transportation, storage, and handling of cargo by connecting aircraft with the ground transportation
system. The Phase 1 construction project involved the construction of 11 cargo terminal buildings and
2 air cargo warehouses. The interior was equipped with advanced facilities to ensure smooth cargo

handling, and various security and screening equipment was installed to maintain security according to
the spatial characteristics. Additionally, 2 underground 4-lane roads were built crossing the runways to
provide convenient access for various ground handling vehicles operating on the airside area, including
belly cargo transportation. The cargo terminal construction project included Cargo Terminal A, developed

by Korean Air; Cargo Terminals B & D, developed by Asiana Airport Development; and 3 buildings of
Cargo Terminal C, developed by Incheon Airport Foreign Airline Cargo Terminal, along with air cargo
warehouses. Construction began in May 1998 and was completed in November 2000.
