Building a new runway

Runway 4

apr ons, and impr o ving Runway 2 Incheon Airport built Runway 4 as part of the Phase 4 project
to respond promptly to increasing aviation demand and enhance
its competitiveness as a hub airport. The new runway focuses

on increasing aircraft capacity and stabilizing operations by
improving runway and taxiway systems. Notably, it is the first
in Korea to feature 8 Rapid Exit Taxiways (RET), significantly
reducing runway occupancy time. This expanded aircraft

handling capacity, while minimizing aircraft taxiing time
and distance. These improvements led to various economic
benefits, including reduced fuel costs and the prevention of
flight delays.
