Laying solid foundations: site preparation
For the airside area, the existing airport facilities operated 24/7, covering a vast

area of diverse ground conditions. Additionally, interference with existing Phase 1
to 3 facilities had to be considered. As a result, a comprehensive site preparation
plan was established taking into account various surrounding factors. The target
area for the Phase 4 airside construction project included land where ground

improvement had been prepared during the Phase 2 construction. However, certain
sections, such as the new perpendicular taxiway areas, required treatment for soft
ground. Site preparation, including soft ground treatment and compaction work,
was carried out to ensure adequate bearing capacity for aircraft loads in each

section.
