In terms of the layout plan, securing scalability and flexibility in anticipation of future demand changes, reviewing new
technologies for airport processing facilities, and applying BIM and non-stop operations were set as detailed strategies. Based
on these strategies, areas such as the check-in hall, large baggage counters, departure screening areas, departure corridors,
VIP lounges, dedicated electric cart spaces, commercial facilities, outdoor atriums, staff entrances, and boarding lounges
were arranged. Furthermore, the core concepts of Phase 4—smart, art, and green—were vividly realized in the Terminal 2
expansion design.
The basic design for the Terminal 2 expansion was completed in Aug 2018, after which IIAC placed orders and took on
construction.
