Yesterday and Today of KOGAS
The history of natural gas in Korea began with the inception
of Korea Gas Corporation in August 1983. KOGAS, which
began to supply natural gas in 1986, led the country to become
the world’s seventh natural gas user. Since then, KOGAS
has grown into an energy company with the world's largest
production and supply facilities, operating 77 LNG storage
tanks with a total of 12.16-million-kL capacity at five LNG
terminals. With a nationwide pipeline network of 5,140
kilometers and 427 governing stations, KOGAS provides
safe, reliable supply of natural gas and provides convenient
access to natural gas for all Koreans, providing an important
foundation for Korea's growth as a highly industrialized nation.
KOGAS, which supplies natural gas, an eco-friendly and
clean fuel, contributes to the fight against climate change and
reduction of fine dust, and is recognized as a global energy
company that operates across the entire value chain of natural
gas exploration, development, and production, both in Korea
and overseas.
